Most weeks we have a speaker at our breakfast meetings. Here, Beach resident Peter Willson (in the red t-shirt) gives us the fascinating background on newsstand jockeying and what topics/photos make the best covers for Hello! Canada Magazine.
The Rotary Club of Toronto Beach was officially chartered by Rotary International in July, 1999, becoming the latest in a long lineage of Toronto clubs. Rotary has been involved in Toronto since the early days of the 20th Century.
We meet Tuesday mornings at the Balmy Beach Club, located on the lake at the foot of Beech Ave. Meeting time is 7.15 AM for a Continental Breakfast followed by announcements and discussion of Club business. For most meetings we invite a Speaker to address and educate the Club on a wide range of important and lively issues that include community and business concerns, upcoming cultural activities, neighbourhood resources, and global challenges.
Our popular annual fundraiser is the "Bowl for the Beach" Bowlathon. This past year (April 2008), due to the generous help and donations of our Beach community businesses and neighbours, we raised $20,000. Through this and other fundraisers we are able to donate to many worthwhile local and global charities that look to us for support. Please click here for Charities We Support.
We are a dynamic group of men and women, which enjoys working and playing together in the spirit of Rotary.
Anyone interested in joining the Club should contact President Club President Colin Claxton
